Silverthorne Colorado’s Cutthroat Anglers is ready to fish and set up fishermen with the equipment they need

Cutthroat Anglers Newsletter:

We’ve had amazing float and wade fishing on the Blue, Colorado, Arkansas, and Roaring Fork Rivers. Here are some new developments for the 2011 season:

Giant Stoneflies Born in Captivity!
Each May, we capture a number of Salmonfly nymphs and toss them in the fish tank for our pet brown trout, Bo J. Troutst to munch on. The nymphs are usually quickly consumed and soon forgotten. Last month the chilling unit went out in our aquarium, causing the water temperature to climb from a comfortable 55 degrees to a balmy 72 degrees.  This triggered the remaining Salmonfly nymphs to emerge from the tank. With a shop full of airborne Salmonflies, there was only one thing we could think to do – Make burritos!

In other related news, we’re about two weeks out from the actual Salmonfly nymphs becoming really active on the Colorado River, with the hatch soon to follow!  Stay tuned to our fishing report for details.
